Energy is produced when glucose enters the cells. The cell walls need to be opened to send glucose inside the cells. Insulin is like a key that opens the cell wall. It is activated and opens the walls of the cell.

Insulin Resistance

But if there is insulin resistance the cell wall will not open as, the cell does not listen to the insulin instructions. As the cell walls are not opened with the existing insulin, the body assumes that it needs to produce more insulin to open the cells. Hence, the body begins to produce more insulin. Due to this, the cell walls open and glucose enters the cells. In the long run the pancreas gland becomes tired due to producing too much insulin for a long time, Therefore, the pancreas gland becomes weak and the beta cells in the pancreas are damaged in the long run.
